Former India Captain Azharuddin Escapes Unhurt After Car Accident
Jaipur: Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin’s car was involved in an accident in Rajasthan’s Soorwal on Wednesday, ANI reported.
According to his personal assistant, Azharuddin escaped unhurt when the Hyundai car lost control and rammed into a dhaba after one of the tyres came off.
“Former cricketer Azharuddin was travelling in a car along with his three associates when the car lost control and rammed into a hotel where a worker got injured,” a police official Chandrabhan said.
“Police reached the spot and all the three persons including Azharuddin were taken away in a different vehicle while the injured was admitted to a government hospital,” he added.
A stylish batsman from Hyderabad, Azharuddin played 99 Tests for India before his career ended as he was found to be involved in a match-fixing scandal and was banned for life by the BCCI.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court ruled the ban illegal in 2012.
Azhar is currently president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association.
