Rourkela: Former hockey Olympian Lazrus Barla distributed masks to hockey-playing young tribal children during his visit to a village hockey coaching centre in Sundargarh district on Monday.
He visited a village level hockey coaching centre of Goriyamal village of Rajgangpur block, run by a former army man Sunil Tigga. Lazarus Barla distributed masks to more than a hundred boys and girls who assembled for hockey training at Goriyamal village field. He told the children about COVID-19 and the importance of masks.
On his visit to the coaching centre on Saturday, Lazrus had found all the children without masks. This prompted him to take action. He went back to Rourkela, purchased masks and again came to Goriyamal village on Monday to distribute the masks.
He asked coach Sunil Tigga to talk to the children about corona every day during hockey training.
