Bhubaneswar: Local MP Aparajita Sarangi laid the foundation stone of a flyover on NH-16 at Hanspal in Odisha capital on Monday.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has already floated tender for the 5.5-km-long flyover to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.
According to the tender notice, the completion period has been fixed at 18 months, while the maintenance period is 60 months.
Aparajita said that a committee comprising NHAI Project Director and local residents has been formed for timely completion of the project.
In July 2019, the MP had held a meeting with Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari over the flyover construction at Hanspal, which is an accident-prone spot, and announced about the go-ahead to the project in October last year.
“Residents of the area will have ease of living. I am immensely grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for their support,” she had tweeted.
Expressing their gratitude to the MP, locals said that the flyover will help to bring down road mishaps along this stretch.
