Bhubaneswar: Four persons died while three others sustained critical injuries in separate collision accidents on Monday afternoon under Karanjia police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
According to sources, a car collided head-on with a bus, en route from Thakurmunda to Karanjia, on National Highway-53 near Kadadiha forest. The force of the impact was so severe that two of the three occupants of the car died at the spot. Police and Fire Services personnel reached the spot on getting information and rushed the injured to sub-divisional hospital at Karanjia, from where he was shifted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital as his condition worsened.
Sources further stated that all occupants of the car were residents of Dharmasala in Jajpur district. They were en route to Rairangpur.
In the other accident, a couple died after their motorcycle collided head-on with an SUV near Kalikapur forest on state highway 220. The deceased were residents of Pantha village in Jashipur. The accident took place while they were returning home from Karanjia hospital.
Two women, travelling in the SUV, also sustained injuries and have been admitted to the hospital, the sources added.
