Bhubaneswar: Encashing in on the three-day Raja festival beginning June 15 and the summer vacations, Odia movie producers have lined up four releases to keep the cash registers ringing. This is a norm every year and invariably, the effort hits the bull’s eye.
Cinegoers also wait for this season to watch satiate their appetite for Ollywood movies.
Four films will be released during the festival this year.
Selfish Dil
Noted director Basant Sahu’s ‘Selfish Dil’ will mark the debut of Shreyan, who is a district-level cricketer. Shreyan did an acting course in Delhi prior to shooting for the movie.
Chulbuli actress Suryamayee will play the female lead in the movie, which also has veteran actor Bijay Mohanty. Besides, actors Munna Khan, Papi Santuka, Salil Mitra, KK, comedian Guddu, Kali and Amar will also make an appearance.
The movie is a family drama-cum-love story.
Produced by Hemant Nayak, Soumitri Palei has directed the music, while Dr Nirmala Nayak is the music composer of the movie.
The production house, Panchabati Cine Creation hopes the audience will love this complete entertainment package.
Chirkut
Fans of Ollywood actor Papu Pom Pom have reason to cheer. He is making his directorial debut with the upcoming movie ‘Chirkut’.
The movie, starring newcomers Aurojit and Ananya will hit theatres during Raja.
It is the love story of a newspaper boy.
Papu has also composed the music of ‘Chirkut’. Aseema Panda, Antara Chakraborty and Bishnu Mohan Kabi have rendered their voice to the songs.
There are six songs in the movie including one classical, one ’90s melody, one quawwali and one item number in typical ‘Odia Kandana’ (Odia village women’s crying) style.
Akshay Kumar Parija is the producer of the movie.
Tu Mo Love Story 2
Odia movie ‘Tu Mo Love Story 2’ is a teenage love story. ‘Tu Mo Love Story Part 1′ was a hit in 2018.
Tarang Cine Productions jointly with DK Movies, has given the songs in this movie.
Souraj and Bhumika are playing the lead roles in the movie directed by Tapas Saragharia.
Golmal Love
This film, again a love story, has been produced under the banner of Taranga Cine Production and is directed by Ashok Pati.
Babusan and Tamana feature in the lead roles.
Bijaya Mohanty, Sritam Das, Illu Banerjee and Jeevan Panda also feature in the movie.
Avijit Mazumdar is the music composer.
