New Delhi: The Centre on Thursday said the proposed four years integrated B.Ed course will be rolled out from this academic session with an aim to improve the quality of teacher and training.
The course will be available for students across all the three streams and designed on the lines of B.Tech programme. It would be available as:
BA-B.Ed
BSc-B.Ed
BCom-B.Ed
The syllabus has been finalised and the institutions desirous of introducing the course can do so soon, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal informed the Parliament.
The HRD Ministry had earlier hinted that the two year B.Ed programme might be dropped in favour of the new four-year integrated programme.
The National Council for Teachers Education had last year said the aim behind introducing the four-year programme was to ensure that only serious students opt for the teacher training programme.
