Bhubaneswar: Latest innovations in child oral health, preventive dentistry, minimally invasive techniques and interdisciplinary care were in focus at the 3-day 46th National Conference of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD), which concluded at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) here recently.
The conference, which served as a vibrant platform for advancing the science and practice of paediatric dentistry, was attended by over 1650 delegates with a record number of 840 papers and around 400 posters presented in the scientific sessions which witnessed robust participation. It was organised under the aegis of ISPPD.
Eminent international speakers from the United Kingdom, Austria, Malaysia and UAE addressed the delegates while experts from AIIMS, Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), PGI, Chandigarh delivered keynote addresses.
Prior to the conference, 15 hands-on workshops were also held.
The inaugural session was attended by President of ISPPD Dr N D Sashikiran and its Secretary General Dr Varinder Goyal and Vice-Chancellor of SOA Prof Pradipta Kumar Nanda. Eminent paediatric dentists like Dr. S. G. Damle, Director of Research at Global Oral Research Academy, Dr Ashima Goyal and Dr Rahul Hegde addressed the sessions.
Eminent neuro surgeon Ashok Mahapatra, Principal Advisor (Health Sciences) of SOA, was also present.
The event also featured networking forums and an impressive dental exhibition displaying the latest material, equipment and digital solutions shaping the future of paediatric dentistry.
In the annual general body meeting which followed saw Dr Sudhindra Baliga taking over as President of ISPPD and D. Susant Mohanty being chosen as President-Elect.
