Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi Shifted From Gujarat Jail To Delhi Prison; Know Why

New Delhi: Dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who has dozens of cases registered against him, was on Thursday shifted from Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Central Jail to Mandoli prison in the national Capital.

Bishnoi had been taken to Gujarat last month by the state’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in connection with a case of cross-border smuggling of drugs.

About 40 kg heroin, worth over Rs 200 crore, was seized from a Pakistani fishing boat off Gujarat coast in the Arabian Sea last September. The ATS suspected Bishnoi’s involvement in the smuggling of drugs and wanted to question him on the matter, reported PTI.

Now that his questioning is over, the gangster has been brought to Mandoli prison for security reasons.

Bishnoi earlier issued threats to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan from prison over the blackbuck killing case as he ‘humiliated’ his community.

Last year, Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the fatal attack on Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala.

Recently, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut filed a police complaint claiming to have received a death threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The Bishnoi gang — known for extorting money from liquor mafia, Punjabi singers and other influential people — operates from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, with its network being spread across the globe.
