George Floyd Murder: 3 Former US Cops Found Guilty

Saint Paul: Three former Minneapolis police officers were found guilty of violating the civil rights of George Floyd, the African-American man whose May 2020 murder sparked nationwide protests, by a jury on Thursday.

Tou Thao, 36; J Alexander Kueng, 28; and Thomas Lane, 38; were convicted following a month-long federal trial here of showing “deliberate indifference” to Floyd’s medical needs, reported news agency AFP.

The jury also convicted Thao and Kueng of failing to intervene to stop the use of “unreasonable force” against Floyd by a fourth officer, Derek Chauvin.

Chauvin, who kneeled on the neck of a handcuffed Floyd for nearly 10 minutes until he passed out and died, was convicted of murder last year and is serving 22 years in jail.
