Bhubaneswar: People should get fully vaccinated against COVID-19 when their turn comes as post-COVID effects on people who have taken double doses are less, said Odisha Health Director Bijay Mohapatra on Friday.
It has been observed that double vaccinated people are less likely to be hospitalised and non-critical compared to those who have not taken the jab, he said.
Explaining the cases, he said COVID infected patients suffer internal infections after recovery and heart, lung and brain get affected post infection. But for those who have taken both the shots of a vaccine, the complications are less, he said.
The Health Director also warned people to not crowd during Durga Puja and be cautious so as not to spread the infection. He requested everyone to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines strictly to keep the pandemic under control.
On Thursday, Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Chief CBK Mohanty appealed people to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines strictly during the crucial festival time to keep the pandemic under control.
“It is the moral responsibility of one and all to check the spread of infection and prevent themselves and others from getting infected with the virus. It will not at all be possible to maintain social distancing during Puja times. So, everybody should be careful to avoid the crowd,” said Mohanty.
