Bhubaneswar: A day after the recovery of the body of a girl student from a pool inside a farmhouse on the outskirts of Odisha capital, the Commissionerate Police on Saturday said that it will conduct two tests to ascertain the cause of the death.
Informing the media, Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Prakash Pal said that the tests will be conducted at the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL).
“The viscera test will be conducted to ascertain whether the girl had consumed poison while the diatom test will be done to know whether the death was due to the drowning in the pool or she was thrown into the pool after being drowned to death somewhere else,” the ACP said.
The postmortem report of the girl has revealed that she died due to drowning, he added.
The father of the deceased girl student, a professor of the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) here, had told the media that as per the CCTV footage, her daughter entered the farmhouse around 2 am.
Maintaining that his daughter had never been to the farmhouse before, he expressed suspicion about the circumstances in which she reached there and later drowned in the pool. “We suspect someone could have guided her to the place,” he added.
