Bhubaneswar: Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (GMDC) has evinced keen interest to set up projects in key sectors like healthcare, education and Information Technology in Odisha.
A proposal in this regard was put forward when GMDC Managing Director Roopwant Singh met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan on Thursday to discuss the status and progress of the company’s mining operations in the state, an official statement said.
During the meeting, Singh presented ambitious plans for social infrastructure development, including construction of a modern hospital, two schools, and an IT park in Odisha.
The Chief Minister welcomed these proposals, emphasising their potential contribution to the state’s development agenda.
The discussion also focused on the status and progress of GMDC’s coal blocks in Odisha — Baitarani West and Burapahar. Both parties reviewed the current operations and future plans for these mining assets.
“These development projects align with the vision for state’s growth. Further deliberations on the proposals would follow,” the statement said.
It said the meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the partnership between GMDC and Odisha govt, potentially paving the way for enhanced industrial and social development in the region.
