Balangir: The Crime Branch of Odisha Police, investigating into alleged suicide of Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in school teacher Mamita Meher murder case, on Tuesday submitted the evidence to district administration in Odisha’s Balangir.
A Crime Branch (CB) team has been making a detailed investigation into various aspects of the case in Kantabanji sub-jail in the district, where Gobinda committed suicide, since Friday after it was handed over the probe by the state government.
On Tuesday, a 5-member team led by Crime Branch DSP Bijay Mallik reached Titlagarh for further probe. They submitted the document and materials collected during the investigation in sealed envelops to sub-collector Naveen Chandra Naik. Later, the evidence and other materials were sent to Bhubaneswar for forensic lab tests, sources said.
On Sunday, the CB team examined some Under Trial Prisoners (UTP) and staff of the sub-jail and seized its ‘Mulakata Register’ to know the persons who had met Govinda before his death on December 20.
On Friday, the team re-visited the spot where Gobinda committed suicide and recreated the scene with the help of a person who is approximately of same age and weight of Gobinda. A similar wooden log and ‘gamucha’ (towel) were used in the exercise.
