Bhubaneswar: The Dhauli-based Shanti Stupa (Peace Pagoda), on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, is all decked up for its golden jubilee celebrations and a light and sound show will be conducted here on Friday, sources said.
According to sources, Buddhist monks from across the world will conduct a mass peace prayer at the Shanti stupa at 10.30 am Following this, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the lift made for differently-abled persons and senior citizens at 11 am.
Around 200 monks, followers, and disciples of Buddhism including the chief monk of Japan have joined for the celebration of Dhauli Peace Pagoda.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Buddhist monks took out a peace march on Thursday. It started at Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar and culminated at Dhauli. The participants, holding banners written with the Buddhist prayer “Na mu myo ho ren ge kyo” and chanting hymns with ‘beopgo’ (traditional Buddhist musical instrument), walked all the way.
