New Delhi: Everyone above the age of 18 will be eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine from May 1.
The Government of India made the announcement on Monday evening amid an alarming spike in coronavirus cases, with over 2.7 lakh being infected in the last 24 hours.
India rolled out the world’s largest vaccination programme on January 16 with healthcare workers, followed with frontline staff a fortnight later. The Centre then opened up vaccination for senior citizens and those with selected co-morbidities from March 1. And from April 1, those above 45 are being given the jab.
