New Delhi: In a move to provide relief to flyers, Air India has announced that all its tickets, irrespective of the date of purchase, will be valid till December 31, 2021.
As part of its new waiver policy, Air India said in a circular that the offer will be applicable for domestic as well as international flights that have been booked between March 15 and August 24, 2020.
Flyers will be able to change the flight, date, or route of their respective flights without paying any extra money till August 24. The journey has to be completed by the end of next year.
If anyone wants to change his/her route, he/she can to do so by adjusting value of the existing ticket against the new fare. There will be no charge for re-issuance of the ticket, but if the fare of new ticket is lower than the existing ticket fare, the balance won’t be refunded.
Air India hopes that this will help reduce stress and anxiety of flyers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
It may be recalled that the Supreme Court had observed last week: “Why should credit being issued by the airlines be limited to a short period or for the same route?”
