Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday batted for the need for protecting and preserving Odia language and culture.
Addressing the state level celebration of Utkal Dibasa at Utkal Mandap here, the Chief Minister said, “We are proud of our language and literature. The state government is committed towards protection of Odia language and everyone should extend their support for the same.”
Highlighting the achievements of his government in various sectors, the CM said, “Odisha has emerged as a model state in the country for introducing different welfare schemes for poor people and efficiently managing disasters.”
The CM recalled the contributions made by our great heroes like Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das, Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Parla Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati, Gangadhar Meher, Fakir Mohan Senapati, Bahadur Ramachandra Mardaraj Deo and Pandit Godabarisha Mishra towards formation of the state in 1936.
Among others, law minister Pratap Jena, tourism minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Speaker of Odisha Assembly Pradip Kumar Amat and MP Prasanna Patsani graced the occasion.
