Bhubaneswar: In order to ensure strict adherence to SOP at Aahaar Kendras, a team of Odisha government officials conducted surprise inspections to the facilities in Bhubaneswar and its surrounding areas on Saturday.

The team, led by Sarada Prasad Panda, joint secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, and State Nodal Officer Aahaar visited the Aahaar centre at Capital Hospital in the city. He interacted with the Mission Shakti Self-Help Group in charge and also the customers at the centre.

The officials checked the kitchen to ensure that hygienic practices are followed in preparation of food. They told the SHG members to maintain cleanliness inside the Kendra and its surroundings.

They emphasised on serving the people with dignity, minimising food wastage and providing special attention to vulnerable groups. Besides, the SHG members were told to maintain sufficient stock of cleaning materials, use protective gears while serving, clean the floor and service areas.

Earlier, the department had made it mandatory for its officials to undertake surprise visits to Aahaar Kendras to ensure smooth operations and maintain high standards.

It may be noted that Aahaar Centres, which were opened at 21 places in 5 municipal corporations initially, have gone up to 167 places in all 115 urban local bodies across the state. Now, over 150 million meals are served at these centres on daily basis.
