Govt To Close Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital At This DHH In Odisha!

Sambalpur: The Odisha government is planning to close the COVID Hospital on Sambalpur district headquarters hospital (DHH) premises here.

The hospital set up at the Maternal and Child Protection Centre has been treating those infected by the virus since April 22.

According to a report published in the Times of India, the authorities of the hospital here have stopped admitting COVID-19 infected patients. “We are now referring them to the dedicated facility at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla,” Chief District Medical Officer, Sambalpur, Sashi Bhusan Patel was quoted as saying by the news daily.

There were plans to close this hospital after the one at VIMSAR with 100 general beds and 20 ICU beds became functional on October 12.

There were 24 patients in the general ward and three patients in the ICU of the COVID-19 hospital in Sambalpur as on Sunday. “The hospital here will be closed after these patients will be cured and discharged and following which the DHH will be made functional at its original place,” he added.
