Groom Picked Up From ‘Baraat’ In Odisha’s Bargarh For Deceiving Another Woman

Bargarh: The wedding revelry turned into a nightmare for a junior engineer of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) when Mahila police picked him up while he was on his way to the bribe’s place in Odisha’s Bargarh district in a procession, on charges of deceiving another woman.

The accused has been identified as Aji Kumar Bhoi. He was posted in Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the aggrieved woman had lodged a complaint with Mahila Police a few days back, alleging that he was in an intimate relationships with her for the last two years, promising her marriage, but later abandoned her and decided to marry another woman. Following which, a case was registered under Sections 376, 323, 294, 313 and 506 of the IPC against Bhoi.

Bargarh SP Prahlad Sahai Meena then directed Bhatli police to track down the accused.

While the baraat was en route to Behera Palli village under Bhatali police limits of Bargarh from Panigengutia village of Parjang in Dhenkanal, Mahila Police of Bhubaneswar Commissionerate led by Sub Inspector (SI) Shubashree Nayak and Bhatali SI Padmabati Mirdha reached the spot and nabbed Bhoi.

He will be brought to Bhubaneswar and produced in court following a medical examination, the sources added.
