Ground-Breaking Ceremony Performed For Alumina Refinery & Apparel Unit In Odisha’s Rayagada
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday attended the ground-breaking ceremony for Aditya Alumina Refinery (HINDALCO) and an apparel unit to be set up by Utkal Alumina Social Welfare Foundation.
While the alumina refinery is coming up at Kansariguda, the apparel complex will be set in Phulujuba village, both in Rayagada district.
Joining the bhumi pujan of both the projects on virtual platform, the Chief Minister said this is not just an industrial milestone, it’s a testament to the untapped potential that lies within our state’s natural resources.
“The project signifies the beginning of a new chapter in Odisha’s industrial landscape. With this, the state has once again proved its mettle as a preferable destination for investment in manufacturing,” he said.
Thanking the Aditya Birla Group for choosing Rayagada district for their industrial ventures, Naveen said the alumina refinery, with an investment of Rs 8000 crore, will significantly contribute to the state’s economy by adding a substantial 2 million ton of refined alumina from bauxite ore per annum.
It may be noted that the government had signed an MoU with Hindalco Industries Limited on October 5 for establishing a long-term linkage for raw materials for the HINDALCO Alumina Refinery at Kanshariguda, Rayagada.
On the apparel manufacturing unit, the chief minister assured that Team Odisha will ensure smooth implementation of the project through its 5T initiative.
Aditya Birla Group’s apparel manufacturing unit with a capacity to manufacture 36 lakh shirts annually will create employment opportunities for 3000 local youth.
Industries Minister Pratap Dev, ST SC Development Minister Jagannath Saraka, 5T Chairman VK Pandian, Koraput MP and MLAs of Rayagada, Principal Secretary, Industries Hemant Sharma and Hindalco MD Satish Pai were present.
