Bhubaneswar: A Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) was apprehended by Odisha vigilance sleuths on Thursday for allegedly taking Rs 5,000 bribe from a man to recommend bonus amount for completion of a house under Indira Awas Yojana (IYA) in Jajpur district.
The GRS, identified as Dillip Kumar Dikhit, was caught by Vigilance officials at Goleipur and Mulapal Gram Panchayat under Korei Block of the district, a Vigilance release said.
The accused had demanded and accepted Rs 5000 from a complainant to recommend bonus amount for completion of a house under IAY in stipulated time and also to post photographs of the house. The house stands in the name of IAY beneficiary who happens to be the brother of the complainant.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused Dikhit and seized.
Following the trap, search of the house of the accused in Jajpur district is going on.
In this connection, a case has been registered and investigation is in progress against the accused.
