Mumbai: Maharashtra’s ruling party Shiv Sena has decided to give the MLC ticket to Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar.
According to a report in The Indian Express, Urmila’s recent verbal attacks on Kangana Ranaut left Shiv Sena workers highly impressed.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray spoke to Urmila over phone about the MLC ticket and the latter has accepted the offer.
“Urmila is an actor and has a good social connect. She might have lost in the Lok Sabha elections, but had won hearts of many through her political maturity, knowledge of the field and awareness about people’s problems. She recently proved that again,” Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut was quoted as saying.
During the recent controversy post Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Kangana had attacked the Shiv Sena government for protecting the ‘miscreants’. The ‘Queen’ actress even referred to Mumbai as “Pakistan-occupied Kashmir”.
Launching a sharp attack on Kangana, Urmila asked her to look at her hometown Himachal, “which was a bastion of drug abuse”.
“The entire country is facing the menace of drugs. Does she know Himachal is the origin of drugs? She should start from her own state,” Urmila had said.
Calling Kangana a ‘Rudaali’, Urmila further said, “Some people want to crib all the time and play the victim card, and if all that fails, they play the woman card.”
