New York: ‘Heroes’ star Hayden Panettiere died on August 16 at the age of 36.
She is survived by her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya Evdokia Klitschko, whom she shares with her former partner, former heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko.
New details have emerged about the circumstances surrounding the actress’s death.
According to the Greenville Police Department, officers and emergency medical personnel responded to a report of an “unresponsive female” at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, at around 1:50 p.m. local time on Sunday. The woman was later identified as Panettiere.
TMZ, citing law enforcement sources, reported that an acquaintance of the actress made the 911 call following the medical emergency. The caller’s identity has not been disclosed.
First responders reportedly attempted to revive Panettiere using advanced cardiac life support, including CPR, medication, breathing support and heart monitoring.
PEOPLE reported that Panettiere was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m. after paramedics were unable to revive her despite performing chest compressions.
According to dispatch audio obtained by PEOPLE, officials reportedly mentioned an “overdose” and “cardiac arrest” during the emergency response. However, an official cause of death has not yet been determined.
The Greenville Police Department is investigating the death in coordination with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.
A police spokesperson said the preliminary investigation has found no evidence of foul play or suspicious circumstances.
Authorities said Panettiere’s official cause of death will be determined following an autopsy.
They have also not confirmed reports that advanced cardiac life support was used in an attempt to revive the actress.
