Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Odisha Stevedores Limited’s managing director Mahimananda Mishra in connection with the 2013 Press Chhak bomb hurling and attempt to murder case.
Mishra had moved the High Court after Cuttack District and Sessions Judge Court dismissed his bail petition earlier in February this year.
On September 21, 2013, a bomb was hurled at lawyer Abhay Bhatt near Press Chhak in an attempt to kill him.
Police suspected involvement of Mishra in the case as Bhatt had purchased a piece of land worth Rs 72 lakh which the former was eyeing. Ganesh Sahu, a criminal, was arrested and during interrogation he revealed that the bomb was hurled under Mishra’s direction, police sources said.
