Bengaluru: After a tussle for power for close to 10 days, HD Kumaraswamy of the JD(S) was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday.
The high-profile swearing-in ceremony was attended by Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, BSP Chief Mayawati and several other senior leaders across party lines.
The Karnataka elections had been one of the most controversial due fractured mandate and power tussle between JD(S)-Congress and BJP. While BJP claimed to form government as it had emerged as the single largest party, Congress-JD(s) had the numbers to prove majority.
Though BJP’s BS Yeddyurappa was sworn-in as the Chief Minister on May 17, he had resigned two days later, minutes ahead of the floor test.
