‘He Was Mentally Ill,’ Says Rhea Chakraborty About Sushant Singh Rajput; His Sister Shweta Reacts

New Delhi: Rhea Chakraborty recently admitted that she was aware of Sushant Singh Rajput’s mental health issue. The actress was speaking at the India Today Conclave when she was asked if she knew the truth about Sushant’s alleged suicide. To this, Rhea explained that people do not believe that one could be depressed despite having ‘fame and success’.

“I could never know the truth of what took him to do what he did because I don’t live in his mind, contrary to popular belief. But I do know the truth about him being mentally ill, I do know the truth about what he was going through,” she said.

Reacting to this, the late actor’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti took to her Instagram handle on Saturday morning and penned down a cryptic note. Sharing a series of throwback pictures of her late brother, Shweta mentioned that it is easy to blame the dead. She further wrote that her brother had a ‘pure heart’ which is still beating in his fans’ hearts.

“Blaming the person who has passed on… who can’t defend himself anymore. I wonder what answer will you give to your conscience! My Bhai had a pure heart and he is beating in hearts of millions. We don’t feel the need to come out and say anything because people can feel the truth,” Sushant’s sister wrote.

Shweta further argued that she will continue to fight for justice for her brother and added, “Bhai was, Bhai is and will always be our pride! The kind of love he has stirred in every heart.. Will never die!! We will relentlessly fight for his justice.”

Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging in his Mumbai apartment in June 2020. He was dating Rhea Chakraborty at the time of his death. Rhea was then arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in September the same year after they found some chats with alleged drug peddlers on her WhatsApp. She was granted bail but had restrictions on her travel for a long time.
