Headmaster, cook arrested for ‘sexually harassing’ girl students
Keonjhar: Headmaster and cook of Gobindpur Primary School under Joda block in Keonjhar district have been arrested on sexual harassment charges.
According to a complaint lodged by the parents, headmaster Surendra Kumar Rana and cook Ramakanta Nayak sexually exploited some girl students and warned them against disclosing it to anyone.
The incident came to light after some students fell ill. Later, parents reported the matter to police.
Acting on the complaint, Keonjhar SP Rajesh Pandit visited the school and questioned the students, employees and parents. He then handed over the case to DSP (Crime) Maheswar Sethi.
During the probe, police recovered several objectionable items from Rana’s room. After recording the statements of the students, Rana and Nayak were arrested and court-forwarded, police sources said.
Nearly 40 SC/ST students are residing in the hostel, the sources added.
