Baripada: Mayurbhanj collector on Sunday suspended the headmaster and a teacher of Morada Patrapur Girls’ High School at Baripada for alleged dereliction of duty.
The move came after hundreds of students of the school decided to meet the collector and apprise him of the issues faced by them by covering a distance of about 15 km by foot from their hostel. “Despite repeated requests, the headmaster and a teacher paid no heed to the difficulties experienced by us in the hostel and took no steps to fulfil their basic necessities,” they alleged.
On being informed, the block welfare extension officer accompanied by some locals stopped the students midway at Nichupada and assured that the issues affecting them would be brought to the notice of the district administration.
Soon after receiving information regarding the incident, the collector visited the school to take stock of the situation. Following which, he issued orders for suspension of the school headmaster, Rajiv Mohanty, and teacher Sushant Das.
