Headmistress suspended as students fall ill after consuming midday meal

Khurda: The district education officer on Wednesday suspended Bijayini Tripathy, headmistress of Deulatangi Primary School in Khurda, for alleged negligence in monitoring midday meal in the school.
Earlier in the day, over 100 students of the school were hospitalised when they complained of acute stomach ache, vomiting and dizziness after consuming eggs served to them.
They were immediately rushed to Khurda hospital by their teachers and guardians.
Expressing resentment over incident, the parents and guardians of the children had demanded a probe into the matter and action against those responsible.
