Bhubaneswar: Come July 2019, you can learn the basic principles and practice of yoga and get a government certificate too in the Odisha capital itself.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a ‘Certificate Programme in Yoga (CPY)’. The IGNOU regional centre in Bhubaneswar is one of the places selected to teach the new course. The other centres are in Delhi, Dehradun, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Ladnun, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune.
“The programme aims to make a learner attain both physical and mental health through Yoga,” LiveMint quoted Professor SB Arora of IGNOU’s School of Health Sciences as saying.
Here’s all you need to know about the Yoga course:
- Students need to have completed their Class 12 from any recognised board to be eligible for the course.
- The course will be imparted in English language.
- Applicants would need to pay ₹10,000 for the programme, which could last from a minimum of six months to a maximum of two years.
4. The programme will have a total of three courses—introduction to yoga and yogic texts; yoga and health; and Shat Kriyas, Yogic Kriyas, Asanas, Pranayama, Mantra Japa.
