Bhubaneswar: While interior Odisha is in the grip of an intense heat wave, the Met office has said that there will be a sharp rise in the day temperature in Western Odisha.
Meanwhile, 10 places recorded above 40 degree Celsius on Saturday, out of which eight are in Western Odisha.
Jharsuguda district was the hottest place in Odisha today, recording a temperature of 42.6 degree Celsius.
Talcher recorded 40.5 degree Celsius, Angul (42.1), Sambalpur (42), Hirakud (41.6), Sundergarh (40), Balangir (40) and Titlagarh (40).
Bhubaneswar recorded 35.6 degree Celsius and Cuttack 36 degree Celsius with humidity at 83 and 79 per cent respectively.
The scorching heat has thrown normal life out of gear both in the coastal and western areas.
However, the Met Department issued a Nor’wester alert for coastal Odisha in the next two to three days.
