Heatwave: 9 Places Record More Than 40 Degree Celsius In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Mercury crossed 40 degree Celsius in as many as 9 places as heatwave condition intensified in Odisha on Friday.

According to the evening bulletin of regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Balangir and Boudh recorded highest day temperature of 41.5 degree Celsius.

They were followed by Jharsuguda with 41.4 degree Celsius, Titlagarh and Baripada 41, Sonepur 40.8, Angul 40.7, Talcher 40.4 and Sambalpur 40.2 degree Celsius.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered maximum temperature of 36.8 and 36.2 degree Celsius, while coastal town Gopalpur lowest temperature in the state with 30.7 degree Celsius.

The IMD said the wind discontinuity from Marathwada to South Interior Karnataka across North Interior Karnataka persists at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

In its temperature forecast, the Met office said there will be no major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during next 5 days in the state. It will be above normal by 2 to 3 degree Celsius at a few places in interior Odisha during next 4-5 days.

For Bhubaneswar, it forecast partly cloudy sky with possibility of development of thunder/lightning. Maximum and Minimum temperature is very likely to be around 37 degree Celsius and 25 degree Celsius respectively.
