Heatwave In Odisha: Morning Classes In Schools Of Angul & Sundargarh From Monday

Bhubaneswar: In view of intense heat wave in Odisha, district administration of Angul and Sundargarh on Saturday announced change in timing of classes of the schools.

Both districts have directed the authorities of all government, government-aided and private schools to conduct the morning classes of the students of Class I to XII from Monday.

The schools will open at 6.30 am and close at 10.30 am to enable the students and the staff to return home before day temperature starts rising. The morning classes will continue till further orders, the schools have been told.

In a circular earlier, the School & Mass Education (S&ME) department had directed the schools to conduct the classes from 7 am to 11.30 am from April 2.

However, the department had told the district authorities to implement the order as per the prevailing weather conditions. Khurda district has already implemented the department’s order.

On Saturday, 4 places in the state recorded maximum (day) temperature of 43 degree Celsius with Angul recording highest 43.5 degree, according to India Meteorological Department.
