Bhubaneswar: With heatwave intensifying across Odisha, Titilagarh emerged as the hottest place in the state recording 42.0° Celsius on Wednesday.
According to the evening weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), at least six places in the state recorded maximum temperatures of 40°C or above.
Sambalpur, Hirakud, and Balangir recorded 41.0°C, while Jharsuguda followed closely at 41.6°C. Talcher and Bhawanipatna registered 40.8°C, and the mercury at Boudh touched 40.0°C.
In the coastal belt, temperatures, though relatively lower, remained above normal, with Chandbali at 37.7°C, Cuttack at 36.0°C, Bhubaneswar at 35.9°C, and Balasore at 36.3°C.
Humidity levels remained high in several areas, aggravating discomfort. Boudh recorded 96% relative humidity in the morning, while coastal and southern regions such as Gopalpur and Paralakhemundi also witnessed elevated moisture levels.
The weather office indicated that dry conditions are likely to persist, with heatwave conditions expected to continue in parts of the state.
