The weather agency has issued heatwave and warm night warning for several districts of the state till April 6. It has also forecast a a gradual rise in maximum temperature by 2-3°C due to prevailing northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation during the next 2 days and fall by 2-4°C at many places during the subsequent 2 days. The day temperature is expected to touch 40°C in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and soar to 43°C at Malkangiri, Boudh, Balangir, Titlagarh, Angul and Jharsuguda.

People have advised to take precautionary measure while going outside during day time between 11 am and 3 pm.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may pull down the temperature by a few notches thereafter. There is also a forecast for light to moderate rain across the state during the next four days.
