Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall for 20 districts in Odisha.
A mid-day IMD bulletin a cyclonic circulation lay over Jharkhand and neighbourhood and a monsoon trough passing from south Gujarat to north Bangladesh lay over north Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southwest Uttar Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal.
Under its influence, heavy rainfall will lash one or two places in 20 districts in coastal and interior Odisha for two days till September 13. Besides, the rainfall activity will continue with light to moderate rainfall in the state till September 17.
In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued orange and yellow warnings for the following districts.
September 12
(Orange warning)
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places of the districts of Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul and Deogarh.
(Yellow warning)
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur and Khurda.
September 13
(Yellow warning)
Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.
Due to strong monsoon current, the sea likely to be rough to very rough along the Odisha coast. Fishermen were advised not to venture into sea during the next 24 hours.
