Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain may resume in Odisha from Monday, according to the midday weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department on Sunday.
There is a yellow warning of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) for the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada districts on September 13. Light to moderate rain or thundershower may also occur at many places in the districts of Sonpur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput,
Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada and at a few places in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj.
The weather office has issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall at isolated places in Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, and Gajapati districts starting Monday morning (September 14). Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 kmph are expected to affect isolated areas in Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada
The active monsoon spell is expected to persist through mid-week. Heavy rainfall warnings remain active for Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Gajapati on September 15 and 16, extending into September 17 for most of these areas. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers will continue across many districts over the next few days with the monsoon trough currently passing through Jaisalmer, Kota, a low-pressure area over southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining north Vidarbha, Rajnandangaon, Bhawanipatna, and extending east-southeastward to the Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
