Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm activity along with heavy rainfall may continue in Odisha till June 26, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
The weather agency has forecast heavy rain at one or two places in Sundargarh district on June 20. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati districts.
There is no rain forecast for the next three days as the low-pressure area over south Bihar & neighbourhood is expected to slowly move in northwestward direction and gradually weaken during the next 24 hours.
During this period, thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda on June 21, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Bargarh on June 22, and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balasore and Bhadrak on June 23.
Heavy rain may resume at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak districts on June 24. There is also a warning for thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak and Sundargarh.
Heavy rain may continue at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj on June 25; and Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandahamal on June 26.
There will be little change in the weather conditions during the next three days, it added.
