Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain triggered by a low-pressure area over coastal Odisha pounded the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar since early Saturday morning.
Intense spell of rain is likely to continue in several parts of the state, including the twin cities, for the next couple of hours, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre tweeted. Besides poor visibility and traffic obstruction, the incessant rain may cause temporary waterlogging in low-lying areas as well as underpass in the urban areas, it added.
The MeT office had earlier issued orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur and Angul during the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur and Dhenkanal during this period.
