Heavy Rain Forecast: Schools In Bhubaneswar To Remain Closed Tomorrow
Bhubaneswar: In view of heavy rain forecast by the India Meteorological Department , Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed for closure of all Anganwadi centres across the state on Friday for the safety of the children. Besides, all schools in Odisha capital will also remain closed.
The Chief Minister has also directed all collectors to take a decision in this regard after assessing the rain situation in their respective districts.
The state has been witnessing incessant rain for the past 36 hours.
Life has been thrown out of gear with the rain lashing the Odisha capital. The Bhubanewar Municipal Corporation has engaged 13 teams to take stock of the situation in 67 wards and asked 40 engineers to stay alert to deal with any eventuality. It has also opened a 24-hour control room and a Special Operation Centre. City denizens have been requested them to contact the Control Room at 0674-2432281 and the Special Operation Centre through the toll-free number 1800345006.
Earlier in the day, the regional centre had predicted heavy rain for 25 district of Odisha with the depression over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and north-coastal Odisha moving slightly westwards and intensifying into deep depression.
Under its influence, there will very heavy rainfall in the south and north-interior districts with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in these districts in the next 36 hours, it had said.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast and north-west Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours.
