Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday forecast heavy rainfall in nine districts of Odisha in the next 12 hours under the impact of a low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal.
The districts likely to be affected are Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh and Sundargarh.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as strong winds are expected to prevail during this period.
Many parts of the state. including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, faced severe waterlogging due to incessant rainfall since Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, Sun Temple in Konark remained waterlogged for the third consecutive day following incessant rains, causing huge resentment among tourists and visitors.
The problem occurred due to poor drainage system on the temple premises.
