Bhubaneswar: A sudden bout of rain on Tuesday afternoon in the Odisha capital provided some relief from the prevailing sultry climate.
Though the southwest monsoon has been subdued over Odisha, several places in the state are likely to experience thunderstorm and heavy rain in the next five days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Khurda districts till Wednesday morning.
From Wednesday till Thursday morning, one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Puri, Nayagarh, Koraput, Rayagada are likely to experience thunderstorm with lightning.
Heavy rainfall is also likely to lash one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore during this period.
From Thursday morning till Friday morning, the IMD has predicted thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Similar weather conditions will prevail at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, the following morning.
The Monday forecast includes heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.
