Bhubaneswar: Odisha may continue to experience heavy rain along with thunderstorm activity till July 7, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
The weather agency has warned of heavy rain along with thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph for one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandahamal, Balangir and Bargarh on July 4. Thunderstorm/lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.
On July 5, a yellow warning of heavy rain, thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph has been issued for one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh. Thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal and Bargarh.
The intensity of rain is likely to decrease thereafter. While heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda on July 6 and Sundargarh and Jharsuguda on July 7.
Though there is no further warning, light to moderate rain may continue at a few places across the state, it added.
