Heavy Rain To Lash North & Interior Odisha As Low Pressure Drifts Towards Jharkhand
Bhubaneswar: With the low-pressure area over north Odisha and adjoining south Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal becoming less well-marked, there will be heavy rainfall in some parts of north coastal and north interior districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur and Bargarh districts on Wednesday and Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts on Thursday.
Although the weather will remain overall dry in Odisha in the subsequent four days till August 22, the state will receive more rainfall from the last week of August due to the formation of a shear zone that usually sets up the platform for rain-bearing systems like low-pressure areas and depressions, it added.
