Heavy Rain To Pound Odisha In Next 12 Hour: IMD
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for Odisha in the next 12 hours.
The national weather agency in a special afternoon bulletin said that the state will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall for three days under the influence of a low-pressure area over the north-west Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts and the associated cyclonic circulation above the mean sea level tilting in the south-west direction.
In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued orange and yellow warning for the following districts.
August 4
(Orange warning)
Heavy to very heavy rainfall over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Kandhamal, Puri and Ganjam.
(Yellow warning)
Heavy rainfall over the districts of Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Cuttack.
August 5
(Orange warning)
Nawarangpur, Nuapada and Kalahandi.
(Yellow warning)
Koraput, Kandhmal, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Sundargarh, Bargarh and Jharsuguda.
August 6
(Yellow warning)
Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Nuapada, Kendrapara, Dhenkenal, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast and west-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours as the squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph will make the sea conditions rough to very rough.
