Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said that most parts of Odisha will receive heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours under the influence of low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.
The national weather agency, in a mid-day bulletin, said that a low-pressure area is most likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around July 21 due to a cyclonic circulation over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood.
Under its influence, some parts of interior south and north Odisha will receive heavy rainfall from July 18 afternoon while the south coastal districts will receive heavy rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in the subsequent 24 hours from July 19.
Apart from this, there will be thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places across the state during the period.
In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts.
July 18
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
July 19
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Cuttack.
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Sonepur.
July 20
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack.
July 21
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri and Khurda.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Jajpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Kandhamal and Kalahandi.
