Heavy To Very Heavy Rain To Batter Odisha For 4 Days As Well Marked LoPAR May Turn Depression Tomorrow
Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to be battered by heavy to very heavy rain during the next four days as the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal which has already turned well marked is set to intensify into a depression on Sunday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday that the low-pressure area now lies as a well-marked low-pressure area over northwest and adjoining central Bay of Bengal.
It is likely to move nearly northwards and intensify into a depression over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-Gangetic West Bengal coasts on September 8. Thereafter, it is likely to move westnorthwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal, north Odisha, Jharkhand and adjoining north Chhattisgarh during subsequent three days.
Under its influence: light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at most places over south Odisha, at many places of north coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of north interior region.
Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at one or two places of Puri, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri in next 24 hours.

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rain (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Koraput districts.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at one or two places of Kendrapada, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur districts.
Sept 9
Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rain (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at one or two places of Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kalahandi districts.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at one or two places of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Deogarh, Smbalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Koraput districts.

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rain (7 to 11cm) may occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Jajpur.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Sonepur and Balangir.
Wind Warning:
Squally weather with strong surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely to prevail over northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal, along & off Odisha coasts during September 8 to 11.
Fishermen Warning:
Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along & off Odisha coast, northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West central Bay of Bengal during September 8 to 11.
