UPDATE: Local police says the mosque bombing in South Waziristan today wasn't caused by a suicide bomber but by a planted IED which was hidden under the minbar.

According to sources, preliminary investigation revealed the blast wasn’t caused by a suicide bomber but by a planted IED which was hidden under the minbar. None has claimed responsibility for the explosion at Maulana Abdul Aziz Mosque in Pakistan’s border region with Afghanistan.
The attack took place a month after another blast killed JUI-S leader Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani and five others. A suicide bomber had targeted the Darul Uloom Haqqania seminary in Pakistan’s Nowshera district.
This blast comes just days after Balochistan separatist militants hijacked a train and held passengers hostage.
Pakistan has pledged to intensify its crackdown on rising militancy. It has accused Afghanistan of sheltering militants. But the ruling Afghan Taliban has declined such claims.
