Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have arrested a man who allegedly murdered his wife, stuffed her body into a suitcase and later confessed to the murder to his wife’s parents over call. He had then fled to Pune. The accused has been identified as Rakesh from Maharashtra. According to reports, he was tracked down using call detail records (CDR) and taken into custody by Satara Police.

Police claimed to have found Rakesh unconscious inside a car by locals in Satara’s Pargaon Khandala. He had reportedly consumed a poison-like substance, police said. He was immediately admitted to the hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The crime came to light when Rakesh reportedly called his wife’s parents. The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Gauri Anil Sambekar, who had studied mass media and communication. She was unemployed and staying at home. Rakesh was working as a project manager at Hitachi. The couple, originally from Maharashtra, had been living in Doddakannahalli under Hulimavu police station limits since the past two months.

According to reports, Rakesh Khedekar, had killed his wife in a fit of rage. They had had been having arguments and reports also suggested that she had assaulted her husband physically, reported Republic TV. On March 26, their argument escalated. Reports claimed that Rakesh hit Gauri on that day, after which she, retaliated by picking up a knife and throwing it at him. The knife injured Rakesh. Subsequently, in a fit of rage, he allegedly took the same knife and stabbed Gauri

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Sarah Fathima told India Today that police initially received a call at around 5:30 pm reporting a suspected hanging case.

“When our Hulimavu police inspector reached the house, it was locked. After gaining entry, they found a suitcase in the bathroom. That’s when we realised it was an offence. The FSL team opened the suitcase and discovered a woman’s body with injury marks all over,” she said, as quoted by India Today.
The officer also added that the body was not cut into pieces.

Reason for argument

Dispute over her inability to find a job and financial stress are at the heart of the murder of a woman by her techie husband in Bengaluru, reported India Today. According to reports, Gauri had previously worked in a private company. But she had recently quit and was actively searching for a new job. The couple frequently argued over the issue.
